Is Myofascial Release Right for You? Here's How to Know

By Michael Sudbury, LMT · 6 min read

Not every approach is right for every person at every stage. We will be direct about that. The Release Works Method of Healing™ is not a passive experience, and it is not for people who want to be fixed while they wait. It requires engagement, curiosity, and a genuine willingness to understand your body differently than you have before.

That said — if you are reading this, there is a very good chance it is exactly right for you.

    Here is how to know.

"I walked in skeptical. I had been told by three different providers that I just needed to manage it. After the first protocol I knew something genuinely different was happening."

If You Have Been in Pain for More Than a Month

Acute pain — the kind that follows a fresh injury — has a clear biological purpose. It protects. It signals. And in most cases, it resolves as the injury heals.

Pain that persists beyond a month, that keeps returning after periods of improvement, or that has simply never left — that is a different category entirely. It is no longer a signal from fresh tissue damage. It is a signal from a system that has been loaded incorrectly for long enough to become self-sustaining.

If you have been in constant or recurring pain for a month or longer — and certainly if it has been years — the fascial system is almost certainly involved. Not as the only factor, but as the primary driver that everything else has missed.

The Release Works Method is designed specifically for this: chronic, persistent pain that has not responded to conventional approaches, or that has responded temporarily and returned.

If Other Solutions Have Not Held

You have probably tried several of the following: chiropractic, physical therapy, cortisone injections, massage, stretching, strengthening programs, medication, rest. Perhaps surgery.

Each of them may have provided a window of relief. None of them held.

This is not because your body cannot heal. It is because each of those approaches addresses something real — joint alignment, muscle strength, inflammation, structural damage — without addressing the fascial system that was creating the conditions for those problems in the first place.

If your chiropractic adjustments feel increasingly difficult to perform or stop holding between visits — the fascial tension is pulling the structure back.

If physical therapy improved your strength but the pain returned when you stopped going — the underlying restriction was never released.

If surgery resolved the structural finding but the pain came back within months — the system that loaded that structure to failure is still present and still active.

The Release Works Method is the logical next step when everything else has been tried and the result has been temporary. Learn why chronic pain treatments only work temporarily.

Many of the men who come to Release Works are not primarily motivated by pain relief. They are motivated by what the pain is taking from them.

The rounds of golf they have stopped playing. The hikes they have started declining. The morning runs that became walks that became nothing. The physical capability they have quietly surrendered, one accommodation at a time, without ever making a conscious decision to give it up.

If you are a man in your 40s or 50s who has been told this is simply what getting older looks like — and that answer has never sat right with you — the Release Works Method is for you.

You are not aging badly. You are carrying a fascial system that has accumulated restrictions over decades of physical demand, injury, and compensation, and that has never been properly addressed. That is a solvable problem. Not with willpower. Not with more exercise. With the right method applied to the right cause.

The goal is not to feel better than you did last month. The goal is to move the way you moved at 35 — and to understand exactly how to maintain that for the rest of your life.

    If You Are Skeptical

Excellent. Skepticism is a sign of intelligence, and it is entirely appropriate given how many approaches have promised results and delivered something considerably less.

You do not need to believe this will work before you begin. You need to show up for the postural assessment, observe what we find, and decide based on what you experience in the first protocol whether this is different from what you have tried before.

In most cases, that question answers itself within the first session. Not because we have done something dramatic, but because feeling your body move differently than it has in years is its own argument.

Skepticism is welcome. It keeps us honest. And the results, when they happen, are that much more satisfying for someone who arrived ready to be proven wrong. Book a free consultation.

If You Want to Own Your Healing

This is perhaps the most important qualifier of all.

The Release Works Method does not create a dependency on us. The goal from the first protocol is for you to understand what is happening in your body, develop the self-care practice that maintains your progress, and eventually not need us anymore.

That outcome — a person who is capable, self-sufficient, and in possession of a lifelong practice that keeps them well — is what we consider success. Not a client who feels good as long as they keep coming in. A person who has healed, knows how they healed, and knows how to stay that way.

If that is what you are looking for, you are in exactly the right place. Learn about the Release Works Method.
